he squadron was first formed by a group of warbird pilots at Deer Valley airport in 1998. The goal of the squadron is to promote the preservation of military aircraft and have a clearinghouse for information pertaining to these aircraft. The squadron went inactive until Greg Medford stood the squadron up in 2002 by bringing the organization current with both the state and with EAA Warbirds of America.
he squadron has been active with hosting the EAA B-17 Aluminum Overcast on several occasions and will continue hosting the B-17 in the future. The squadron is a strong supporter of the EAA Young Eagles program which sends young individuals to aviation camps at the EAA Headquarters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Squadron 20 has adopted the EAA Young Eagles program as our primary beneficiary of financial support.
Squadron 20 is based at the Deer Valley Airport (DVT) in Phoenix, Arizona.
